Quality in law enforcement is a vital asset to the community, and should be encouraged, promoted and formally recognized. The philosophy behind these awards is to recognize excellence in private sector partners and law enforcement agencies working together to address community problems and enhance public safety in their communities.
Award Categories:
- Fallen Hero Award
To be considered for this award the security officer must have died in the line of duty while performing authorized security functions for their employer or employer’s client. If applicable the individual must have been in full compliance with FSS 493 and not taking actions outside their scope of authority under FSS 493, any other applicable statute or ordinance or employer’s policy and not subject to investigation by the Florida Division of Licensing or other investigative authority.
- Operation Cooperation Public/ Private Partnerships of Services
This award category recognizes a police department and a private sector partner that has mutually worked together to solve a police related problem, or enhanced a police related service, or impacted positively on enhancing police services to the public.
- The Glen Mowrey “Pillars of Success”
This award category recognizes men and women who previously served as law enforcement officers (police departments) and who now have transitioned in private sector security related positions.
- “The Helping Hand”
This award distinguishes an individual who at the time of the incident was in a private security position that significantly assisted a police department and/or a police officer(s) in the performance of their duty. Special emphasis should be placed on individuals that assisted in an apprehension, extensive investigative assistance/support, and/or provided personal assistance to a law enforcement officer that may have prevented serious injury or death.
