Gerald (Jerry) Butler was born in New Haven CT and is a 29-year veteran of the Milford CT Police Department. Gerald Butler entered the Milford CT Police Academy in 1984. He retired from the Milford Police Dept. at the rank of Deputy Chief of Police in 2014.
He was a 28-year member of Milford Police Department’s Marine/SCUBA Unit and was the Unit’s commanding officer from 2001 until his retirement.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Leadership from Albertus Magnus College.
He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, 230th Session, and the Police Executive Research Forums, Senior Management Institute for Police, 52nd session.
Chief Butler joined the City of Lake City FL Police Department in March 2014 as the Assistant Chief of Police. In November of 2021, he was named interim Chief of Police and on March 18, 2022, he was promoted to Chief of Police.
