Through the grant, FPCA will develop and provide a training program on officer safety, health and wellness to law enforcement executives throughout the state.

“To receive a grant from such an outstanding company is a great honor,” said Miami Shores Police Chief Kevin Lystad, President of the FPCA. “This funding will enable us to continue our public safety training programs for Florida’s law enforcement executives.”

Last year, the FPCA received $5,000 in grant funding from the Motorola Solutions Foundation, which funded a special training at the Association’s 2016 Summer Conference on how to respond to the issues of racially-biased policing and the perceptions of its practice.

This year, Motorola Solutions Foundation grants will support programs that help over 2 million students, teachers, first responders and community members across the United States.
