Deputy Marshal – District Court (Full-Time)
Compensation: $28.85 per hour
Position Overview
The Deputy Marshal is a sworn law enforcement position headquartered in Daytona Beach. This role ensures the safety and security of Judges, court staff, visitors, the facilities of the Fifth District Court of Appeal, and wherever the court travels.
Duties include perimeter security, access control, video surveillance, alarm monitoring, emergency response, and law enforcement actions as required.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct visitor security screenings using X-ray and scanning equipment.
• Monitor activities through surveillance systems and patrol courthouse grounds.
• Assist with fire safety, medical emergencies, and evacuations.
• Provide assistance and information to staff, visitors, and the public.
• Prepare incident reports, maintain security logs, and complete clerical tasks.
• Pursue, apprehend, and arrest violators of the law within courthouse jurisdiction.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
• Proficiency with firearms; must maintain FDLE Law Enforcement Firearms Qualification standards.
• Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and emergency response protocols.
• Excellent communication skills and professionalism under pressure.
• Commitment to protecting the judiciary and ensuring safe judicial proceedings.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED plus one year of college or vocational training in law enforcement.
• Current State of Florida Law Enforcement Certification.
• Completion of the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission’s Basic Recruit Law Enforcement Course.
• Valid State of Florida driver’s license and weapons permit.
• Minimum three years of law enforcement, court security, or related military experience.
