The Florida Police Chiefs Association and Florida Police Chiefs Education and Research Foundation offers a variety of half/one day training programs to provide the law enforcement professional with the tools and knowledge needed to excel. We provide expert instructors and hands-on learning to address the ever changing climate and culture of law enforcement.

This course focuses specifically on preparing you for a police chiefs position.  Each segment of the course will focus on skills needed to lead an agency.  Lectures will be complemented by practical exercises, role-play, extensive class interaction, and panel discussions.  Topics will include the application process, managing generational differences, innovations and best practices, leadership perceptions, building time management skills, effective budgeting, labor laws and the CJSTC disciplinary process.

Because of the nature of their new job, recently appointed chiefs of police (3 years or less as a Chief), often find themselves confronting issues with which they have had little or no experience during their professional career. This course focuses on providing new chiefs with an understanding of many of those critical issues and with interaction with other chiefs and city officials from whose experience they may learn. As is the case with other FPCA classes, this course will complement classroom lectures with practical exercises, role-play, extensive class interaction, and panel discussions.  This seminar is limited to Chiefs only.

The FPCA recognizes the great work that Executive and Administrative Assistants perform on a daily basis for our police chiefs.  FPCA is thrilled to offer this new training specifically for you to help become the ultimate assistant with a CORE group of skills: Communications, Organization Methods, Roles and Responsibilities, and Expectations of Executive/Administrative Assistant Professionals.

The Mid-Winter Training Conference begins on Sunday with committee meetings and a reception in the exhibit hall that evening.  Opening ceremonies officially open the conference on Monday followed by training the remainder of that day and on Tuesday.  Monday night’s highlight is the Member Meet & Greet.

The Annual Summer Training Conference & Exposition begins on Saturday with a Golf Tournament followed by committee meetings in the afternoon.  Committee meetings continue on Sunday.  Opening Ceremonies officially opens the conference on Monday followed by training.  Monday night our host chiefs plan a great event. Training continues on Tuesday and a half day on Wednesday.  Tuesday’s highlight is the Annual Awards Luncheon where the Police Officers of the Year, Rocky Pomerance Awards and the Public Private Partnership Awards are presented.  The highlight of the conference is the Annual Installation and Awards banquet on Wednesday evening where new officers are installed and the President’s Award, the Outstanding Chief Executive of the Year, the Outstanding Command Officer of the Year, and the Wall of Honor awards are presented.
