Chief
Stephen Kinsey was appointed the Chief of Police for the Davie Police Department in September 2020. He has more than 32 years of Law Enforcement experience including being the Undersheriff at the Broward Sheriff’s Office from 2013-2019 and the Assistant Chief of Police of Operations at the Fort Lauderdale Police Department from 2008-2013. Chief Kinsey has served in a supervisory or command capacity in all three Police Department Bureaus (Operations, Investigations, and Administration) during the course of his career. Chief Kinsey has been a resident of Davie for over 25 years and has a unique understanding of their diverse community offerings and culture.
Chief Kinsey is a graduate of the FBI National Executive Institute, the FBI LEEDA Organization, the FBI National Academy, and the Police Executive Research Forum Senior Management Institute of Police. Chief Kinsey holds a Master of Science degree in Public Administration from Florida International University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology with a Minor in Sociology from Florida State University. He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF), the Florida Police Chief’s Association (FPCA), and is the current President of the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association.
