FLORIDA POLICE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION RECEIVES MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS FOUNDATION GRANT
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida Police Chiefs Association (FPCA), today announced it has received a grant for $10,000 from the Motorola Solutions Foundation. Through the grant, FPCA will develop and provide a training program on officer safety, health and wellness to law enforcement executives throughout the state.
“To receive a grant from such an outstanding company is a great honor,” said Miami Shores Police Chief Kevin Lystad, President of the FPCA. “This funding will enable us to continue our public safety training programs for Florida’s law enforcement executives.”
Last year, the FPCA received $5,000 in grant funding from the Motorola Solutions Foundation, which funded a special training at the Association’s 2016 Summer Conference on how to respond to the issues of racially-biased policing and the perceptions of its practice.
The Motorola Solutions Foundation awards grants each year to organizations that support and advance public safety programs and technology; engineering education initiatives. This year, Motorola Solutions Foundation grants will support programs that help over 2 million students, teachers, first responders and community members across the United States. Programs that serve underrepresented populations, including women, people with disabilities and veterans, were prioritized.
