The Patrol Division’s Public Safety Officer is the first responder to the scene of all police, fire, and emergency medical calls within the city. The same officer may respond to a crime, motor vehicle accident, medical call, and fire service call, all within the same shift.

Public Safety Officer – Full-time and Part-time:
The City is hiring both Full-time and Part-time Public Safety Officers. A Public Safety Officer is triple certified as a police officer, firefighter, and EMT or paramedic. The City will consider hiring single certified police officers or firefighter / EMT or paramedics. If hired with a single certification, the City will pay your tuition to attend the additional academy needed and pay you a salary while in the academy.

Minimum qualifications:
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Valid State of Florida Basic Recruit certificate for Law Enforcement or Fire Fighter (whichever is applicable)
• Florida EMT or Florida Paramedic Certification, if applicable
• Valid Florida Driver’s License
• Microsoft Office computer knowledge
• Be a non-user of tobacco products for at least one (1) year prior to employment
• To claim Veteran’s Preference, a copy of your DD214 must be submitted with your application.
