|BELLE ISLE POLICE OFFICER JOB DESCRIPTION
Patrols city streets to prevent crime and enforce laws, City Ordinances and conduct traffic enforcement as needed. Arrests or cites offenders, investigate crimes, and make arrests and assist in prosecution of offenders. Leads or assists with community efforts related to improving community livability. This position requires a high level of problem-solving ability, self-initiative, and the ability to work independently in conformance with established guidelines and standards. Successful performers are those who are capable and willing to make decisions that are consistently in conformance with the agency’s mission, goals, and objectives.
PAY RANGE AND BENEFITS
Step-Pay-Plan with officers starting salary $44,124.29
Local Government Health Insurance Plan-City pays 100% medical for employee
Supplemental Insurance: Dental & Vision, Life, Cancer
401(A) City contribution of 17.5% held by the Florida League of Cities
Newly hired Police Officers who have two (2) or more years of relevant experience may be placed in Grade 2 of the Police Officer Pay Plan with a salary of $52,695.77.

NATURE OF WORK:
Performs professional law enforcement work to maintain order to protect the public, maintain law and order in the community, detect and prevent crime, direct and control traffic, and investigate and apprehend suspects involved in criminal activity. Work is performed under general supervision of Police Sergeant.
Certified law enforcement officer, High School diploma, valid driver’s license, and excellent driving record, at least 21 years of age, must be a US citizen, good moral character, no felony convictions or, misdemeanor convictions involving moral character, perjury or false statement
