Police Accreditation and Grants CoordinatorSalary: $53,000.00 – $81,000.00 Annually

Under the general direction of the Police Chief, the purpose of this classification is to perform: Effective and efficient planning, coordinating, and management of the accreditation and re-accreditation programs. Administers the accreditation processes to ensure compliance with standards from established State and Federal agencies. Responsible for grant administration, research, analyses, inspections, audits associated with grants.

Accreditation Coordinator:
• Administration of the accreditation process, ensuring compliance with standards developed by state and national accreditation bodies, as applicable.
• Management of the electronic policy management system, including the proper updating of policies, creation of user accounts, and ensuring accountability for policy review by employees.
• Ensure that policies and practices are updated as required by accreditation standard changes.
• Prepare the department for accreditation and re-accreditation recognitions.
• Represent the police department along with the Chief of Police or designee at accreditation meetings or award recognition events.
• Assist other agencies with accreditation program tasks as directed.
• Provide accreditation training to newly hired employees – ensure all required entry-level training is provided.
• Coordinate and serve as host to both national and state on-site assessments conducted every- four years. Serves as a liaison between Intra/interagency personnel, and between department and accreditation bodies.
• Draft, review and revise all agency policies as required by accreditation standard, department policy, or as needed. Maintain current knowledge of State/Federal statutes and regulations.
• Conduct research during policy revision utilizing other agency’s policies, and various accreditation databases/forums. Make a recommendation based on accreditation inspections.
• Work closely with command staff members and supervisors to ensure compliance with time-sensitive inspections, reviews, and reports. Inspect records/reports and maintain historical directives.
• Maintains master and archive files for agency written directives. Distribute written directives/ policies including any changes or revisions to agency personnel. Utilize the police department’s PowerDMS software system.
• Attends conferences and training to receive education on new trends and standards as it relates to the accreditation.
Grants Coordinator:
• Apply for and manage available grant opportunities including completion of all required follow-up reporting.
• Researches available government and private foundation grants; coordinated and directs grant writing activities for federal, state, and local funding; prepares grant proposals and writes grant applications as directed. Oversees the development and maintenance of grant funding resource database and library.
• Attends conferences and training to receive education on new trends and standards as it relates to law enforcement grants.
Additional Functions:
• Performs general/clerical tasks, typing documents, making copies, scanning, filing documentation, utilization of email and telephone for communication.
• Assists other employees or departments as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business Management or closely related field from an accredited college or university, supplemented by two or more years of office experience or legal experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. Advanced knowledge of computers, using Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and ability to use applicable department and organization-specific software. Possession of and ability to maintain a valid State of Florida Driver’s License. Florida Accreditation Manager Certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters Degree in criminal justice, public administration, business management, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. Experience in supervising, coordinating, and presenting training. Prior experience in law enforcement accreditation.

Depending on the functional area of the assignment, tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort usually involving some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 40 pounds). Usually involves some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking, or standing.
Tasks are regularly performed inside without exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, cold, rain, fumes).
Some tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity. Some tasks may involve identifying and distinguishing colors. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally and in writing.


Every City employee has emergency response responsibilities, though not every position will be considered an essential employee during an emergency event. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee’s official job description. Assignments in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature, with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically and operationally challenging conditions.

Salary: $53,000.00 – $81,000.00 Annually

Health Insurance: The City currently offers a PPO (Preferred Provider)-type health insurance plan provided by Cigna.
Dental Insurance: The City currently offers a PPO (Preferred Provider)-type dental insurance plan provided by The Standard.
Vision Insurance: The City currently offers a PPO (Preferred Provider)-type vision insurance plan provided by The Standard.
Supplemental Insurance: The City currently offers 4 types of supplemental insurance provided by AFLAC.
Life Insurance and AD&D: The City offers a $50,000 life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment policy for employees.
Additional Life Insurance: The City offers Additional Life in units of $10,000 to a maximum of $300,000. The minimum amount you can elect is $10,000. Employees can elect up to $80,000 with no medical questions. Spouse coverage is available in units of $5,000 to a maximum of $150,000, but not to exceed 50 percent of your Additional Life coverage. Employees may also elect $10,000 of Dependents Life insurance for eligible children.
Short-term Disability: The City offers a short-term disability benefit that would provide a weekly benefit of 60% of $1,667 of your insured pre-disability earnings reduced by deductible income. The plan maximum weekly benefit is $1,000 and the minimum is $15. The benefit waiting period is 30 days (accidental injury and other disabilities) the period of time that you must be continuously disabled before benefits become payable.
Long-term Disability: The City offers a long-term disability benefit that would provide 60% of the covered salary after the employee is disabled for six months. The premium for this insurance is .54 percent of salary. For example: calculate monthly salary x .54 ÷ 100 = monthly premium.
Retirement Savings: The City contributes 6.5% of base earnings to a 401 retirement savings plan for non-bargaining unit employees.
Deferred Compensation Plan: The City offers a 457 Deferred Comp retirement savings plan for its employees. Contributions to this plan are voluntary.
Medical and Dependent-Care Savings Accounts: The City offers two types of pre-tax savings accounts that can be used to reimburse the employee for qualified medical or dependent-care expenses not covered under any other benefit. Any funds deposited must be spent by the end of the plan year each year or they are forfeited. Contributions to this plan are voluntary.
