ANNOUNCEMENT
DEPUTY POLICE CHIEF
Weekly Salary Range: $1,847.70 – $2,740.38
OPEN UNTIL FILLED
Deputy Police Chief is an at-will classification and serves at the pleasure of the Chief of Police.
Purpose: Performs highly responsible administrative and operational police work in assisting the Police Chief in the direction of personnel and day-to-day operations of the Police Department. Recommends changes to improve organization, administration, and operation of the Police Department. Assists in the development and implementation of department policy, procedures, rules and regulations. Conducts special studies and investigations on behalf of the Police Chief. Demonstrates leadership and exercises independent judgment. Assumes duties of the Police Chief in his absence. Performs other related work as required.
Eligibility Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in criminology, law enforcement, public administration, or related field; supplemented by at least ten (10) years’ experience in law enforcement and responsible administrative positions, two years of which must have been at the Command Staff level. Must be a certified police officer in the State of Florida. Requires valid State of Florida Driver’s License.

As part of the application process, candidates should submit a resume and cover letter stating why the position of Deputy Police Chief is desired and what attributes and ideas they will bring to the position.
Selection Method:
Chief of Police may screen eligible candidates by review of relative qualifications from personnel files and/or resumes. Interviews with selected candidates may be conducted with the Chief of Police whereby candidates may expound upon the attributes and ideas briefly stated in the resume and cover letter. Chief of Police may then appoint final selection.
