Job Description Summary
Responsible for administrative oversight of the Criminal Justice Academy and ensuring compliance with FDLE Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) rules. Provides leadership to identify and ensure academy goals and objectives are met; plans, organizes, promotes, and directs academy activities; identifies needs and develops plans and projections for future programs and courses; provides and evaluates specialized and advanced training programs; prepares annual budget; ensures expenditures are appropriate; and manages instructors, staff and faculty.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Guides, leads, reviews, verifies, observes, and manages the work of people reporting directly to you.
• Controls and monitors projects, oversees administrative details that may include consultant document reviews, contractor billings, building project budgets, consultant and technology contracts.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of non-instructional programs. Develops and implements changes, as needed.
• Develops and coordinates program and course schedules, faculty assignments, and test dates. Maintains calendar as necessary to track these schedules. Makes adjustments, as required.
• Prepares for participation in Community or Program Advisory Board, School District, and Foundation Committee meetings.
• Conducts needs assessment to identify knowledge, skills, behaviors, and competencies required in selecting or designing curriculum to meet customer needs.
• Researches, interprets and adheres to compliance requirements. Submits and verifies information to answer audit questions.
• Attends community meetings, presents, and assists professional associations, business groups, and civic clubs. May promote College programs.
• Assists in the evaluation of the unit relative to its mission and suggest ways services may be refined.
• Reviews proposals, plan, design, and conduct evaluations of specific educational, staff development, and auxiliary programs.
• Conducts all tasks related to the preparation of the annual and other periodic budgets for a department, campus, or college.
• Prepares or assists in the preparation of various educational programs and educational activity reports (e.g., graduation distribution, enrollment, and funding). This includes accrediting agency reports as well as association surveys.
• Monitors and evaluates the performance of your employees.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum five years of experience in law enforcement, to include supervisory experience

Knowledge of:
• Florida Statutes and CJSTC rules and procedures
• Microsoft Office Professional or similar application

Skilled in:
• Good verbal and written communication
• Multitasking capabilities

Ability to:
• Manage a budget
• Work with diverse populations and varying education levels

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
• Regular attendance required
• Valid Florida driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
• Master’s degree

• Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Stand for extended periods of time
• Use of video display terminal
• Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills
• Communicate information orally and in writing

• Work with equipment or perform procedures where carelessness may result in injury
• Experience exposure to uncomfortable work environment due to extreme temperature, noise level, and other conditions
• Operate motor vehicle
