FPCA is concerned about improving public safety, our quality of life and constantly strives for “Quality Law Enforcement in the Sunshine State.”  We offer Law Enforcement and Business categories of membership. Law Enforcement Memberships

Chief Executive

$210, $260, or $310 per year

Dues are set by the size of the agency. Individuals must be a full time law enforcement chief executive and command staff as determined by the chief executive, engaging in the management of any bureau or division with any law enforcement agency in Florida. Active members receive discount prices on some FPCA-sponsored police training; FPCA decals; one membership lapel pin, card and certificate and access to all member benefits listed below. While all active members are entitled to discuss all matters pertaining to the FPCA, only law enforcement members are entitled to vote.

Second Command

$135 per year

Individuals must be a full time law enforcement command staff as determined by the chief executive, engaging in the management of any bureau or division with any law enforcement agency in Florida. Active members receive discount prices on some FPCA-sponsored police training; FPCA decals; one membership lapel pin, card and certificate and access to all member benefits listed below. While all active members are entitled to discuss all matters pertaining to the FPCA, only law enforcement members are entitled to vote.

Associate

$160 per year

Individuals must be endorsed by the police chief, who is an active FPCA member, in his/her community (signature required). Associate members receive discount prices on some FPCA-sponsored police training; FPCA decals; one membership lapel pin, card and certificate; and a one-year subscription to The Florida Police Chief Newsletter. Associate members are entitled to participate in any discussion of any matter pertaining to the FPCA, but may not vote.

Sustaining

$40 per year

Active members of the Association who have retired or resigned in good standing from their agency or individuals who have retired or resigned, in good standing from the position of Police Chief in any city, town or village in the United States. Sustaining members receive discount prices on some FPCA-sponsored police training; FPCA decals; one membership lapel pin, card and certificate; and a free one-year subscription to The Florida Police Chief Newsletter. Sustaining members are entitled to participate in any discussion of any matter pertaining to the FPCA, but may not vote.

Business Memberships

Small Business

$260 per year

A business has 1-5 employees; Must demonstrate proven track record within its community; Must be endorsed by the police chief, who is an active FPCA member, in the company’s area (signature required); Or if out of state, approved by the FPCA president (signature required); Can participate in any discussion pertaining to the FPCA, but may not vote; Will receive two car decals; one membership card for the company, lapel pin, card and certificate

Police Suppliers

$560 per year

A business has 5-14 employees, must supply law enforcement agencies with products or services, and must be endorsed by the police chief, who is an active FPCA member, in the company’s community, or if out of state, approved by the FPCA president (signature required). The Police Supplier will receive five car decals; membership card for the company, lapel pin and certificate. Police Suppliers are entitled to participate in any discussion of any matter pertaining to the FPCA, but may not vote.

Executive Corporate

$1,000 per year

A Business has 15 or more employees, must demonstrate a proven track record within its community and be endorsed by the police chief, who is an active FPCA member, in the company’s community, or if out of state, approved by the FPCA president (signature required). The Executive Corporate member will receive ten car decals, one membership card, lapel pin and certificate. Executive Corporate members are entitled to participate in any discussion of any matter pertaining to the FPCA, but may not vote.

Member Benefits

Annual Training Conferences

The Florida Police Chiefs Association holds two conferences each year in various areas of the state offering state accredited training that can be applied toward mandatory retraining requirements. In addition to two days of training at the Mid-Winter Conference and three days of training at the Summer Conference, law enforcement suppliers from all over the country exhibit the latest in law enforcement technology and equipment.  Members receive discounts to all training conferences.

Training Seminars

Through our STARS Program we offer seminars for newly appointed police chiefs, law enforcement personnel seeking to become police chiefs and police chief’s administrative/executive assistants.  In addition, we provide training on other topics of specific interest such as public records.  These seminars are led by professionals who complete the presentations with practical exercises, role-play, extensive class interaction and panel discussions.  Members receive discounts to all training seminars.

Career Center

Introduced in January 2017, the FPCA Career Center, is an online resource than will provide our members information on minimum requirements for chief of police positions, guidance on applying for command positions and templates for cover letters, resumes and references.  A training session is also being developed that will provide members interested in career advancement the opportunity to practice interviewing, to speak with City Managers and to have their resumes and cover letters reviewed.

Legislative Representation

One of the many FPCA member benefits is an extended staff for you and your agency as well as professional representation on policy issues affecting law enforcement and public safety.  We monitor bills that have been filed, we attend legislative committee meetings, and we meet with Senators, Representatives, and legislative staff.  During session a weekly Legislative Bulletin is emailed to all members keeping you up to date on all of the legislative activity.

Public Relations Consulting

FPCA members receive a complimentary one-hour public relations consultation with a public relations professional.

Legal Hotline

FPCA members receive a complimentary 30 minute legal consultation with the FPCA attorney.

stanard logoPolice Testing Programs

Since 2002 the Florida Police Chiefs Association has collaborated with Stanard & Associates, Inc., to offer public safety agencies a legally defensible, nationally validated examination that was designed to identify candidates who possess the skills necessary to function successfully as an entry level police officer. The service has since expanded to include supervisor/promotional exams and dispatcher exams. This service is designed to help departments throughout Florida select the best officers, supervisors and dispatchers possible through inexpensive and highly effective applicant testing.

Electronic Crash Reporting

FPCA has collaborated with LexisNexis® Risk Solutions to offer Florida agencies solutions fulfilling accident report requests online and Florida-certified electronic crash reporting at no charge.LexisNexis

LexisNexis has agreed to set up an online or in-person demo at your request.  Also, as an FPCA member, they will set up a pilot project at your agency for you to test the product before fully committing.  We encourage you to check out these programs as a cost-effective management reporting tool, allowing members to send their data to the state via a desktop or laptop computer and internet service.

Job Central

The FPCA “Jobs Central” is a comprehensive source of law enforcement vacancies within the State of Florida.  This portal provides an opportunity for agencies within the state to connect with qualified candidates from across the country.  Members receive a 50% discount on job posting rates.

Publications

The Florida Police Chief is a quarterly digital magazine that brings current association news, policing trends, innovative management techniques, police services and the latest crime-fighting equipment to our members. During session the weekly FPCA Legislative Bulletin is emailed to all members keeping you up to date on all of the legislative activity.
